2) Get involved! Volunteer at your local SPCA, Humane Society, or other organization that helps animals.
3) If you are sickened by something that is happening, write your member of congress, parliament, etc.
4) If you see someone abusing or being cruel to an animal, either tell them to stop, or call the police.

Our description: In many cities in Turkey, dogs are still poisoned on a regular basis to "control their population" - This is inhumane (and illegal), but city authorities often ignore these barbaric acts. The authorities often say that they do this for the good of tourists, to stop the spread of disease. Well, in our opinion, tourists should take a long hard look at the types of animal cruelty that occurs in Turkey before considering it as a vacation destination. Killing is never a good option for dog population control - Neutering and releasing would be much better.
